Learning where to aim your putter is often misunderstood. Here are the steps to help you make more putts:

1. Read the putt. Hopefully you are good are seeing the breaks and tendencies of which way a ball will roll.
2. Pick out a spot 1-3 feet in front of your ball ALONG THE LINE you want to roll the putt on.
3. Aim the putterface AT THAT SPOT along the line you chose.
4. Now that you are aligned properly, it's all about FEEL. Go ahead and roll the putt.

Distance control takes over at that point. You MUST learn how to control the roll of the ball so you can stop it close to the hole if missed. Let this video sink in and then go practice lining up better on breaking putts. I bet you make more of them!!!

Eddie Kilthau
PGA Professional

It's All About Having FUN!

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nffwtwx4h60/TiRNUDWRt8I/AAAAAAAAADw/--cBqBXfg2k/s1600/Cheeseball+Clan.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; Golf is a game that can be played for a lifetime and it's a game that we all can play regardless of our abilities.

Helping golfers improve is the single best advertisement I can get! Why? Because if golfers I teach continue to improve their skills, they will have more fun when they play the game. And if they have more fun when they play, they will tend to play more and tell others about it.

So no matter how good you are or if you are just beginning, why not come get some help. Good instruction (with a dose of FUN thrown in) speeds you along the path to course happiness. I see so many players struggle when they don't have to. Golf is a game and games are supposed to be enjoyed. Here's hoping you are enjoying yours. If not, give me a call....I bet I can help you.

P.S. My introductory lesson with a new student is only $50! Call me when you are ready. Reach me at 602-697-1978 or email me at ekilthau@pga.com. Darren Clarke, the grizzled 20 year veteran of worldwide competitive golf finally won his first major championship. The championship lived up to it's billing as the wind and rain washed over the golf course the final two days making life difficult for most of the field.

But in this game, nothing takes the place of experience. NOTHING.

How about 61 year old Tom Watson. Always known as the best "mudder" around, Tom fashioned scores of 72-70-72-72 to finish in a tie for 22nd, besting U.S. Open champion Rory McIlroy by one shot. Having won 5 British Opens, Tom knows how to get his ball around the golf course in the toughest conditions known to golfers.

Darrens' win satisfies the emotions of all the "common man" around the world. He is self described as slightly overweight, likes to smoke cigarettes and cigars and is known to tip back a few pints from time to time. He said if he won the Jug, it would be days before he realized what he had done because he might be a little tipsy throughout the celebration.

So here's to a job well done by a seasoned professional and an all around "good guy". We all can take pride in hoisting one for the Pro and celebrate along with him.
